Air Jordan 20

Tinker Hatfield was back in charge when it came time to design the Air Jordan 20 shoe.  This design was inspired by a combination of motorcycle tires and cycling shoes, which resulted in a pretty funky-looking shoe.  The Air Jordan XX celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Air Jordan line, which is represented by the numbers 85 and 05 that appear on the shoes’ heels.  The lace covers had several symbols etched on them to represent important milestones in both Michael Jordan’s career and the history of Air Jordan shoes.

The Air Jordan 20 shoes incorporated a new cushioning technology called Independent Podular Suspension (IPS), which helped support key areas of the foot.  The center strap covering the laces provided extra support for the foot and helped give the Air Jordan XX shoes a tighter fit.  The shoes contained an internal shank plate to support the arches and middle of the foot.

There were a total of nine colorways offered for the Air Jordan 20 shoes.  The Countdown package colorway was black/black-dark charcoal.  The other colorways for the high-top shoes were chutney/white-black, varsity red/white-black, black/stealth-varsity red, university blue/white-black, white/black-varsity red, and white/varsity red-black.  There was also a 3/4 height available in white/metallic silver-deep garnet and a low-top variety in white/midnight navy-neutral grey.
