Air Jordans

The line of Air Jordan shoes goes back to 1985 when Michael Jordan wore the original Air Jordan I shoes in actual basketball games.  This was against the dress policy of the NBA at the time, and so, Jordan was fined $5,000 per game that he wore the sneakers.  His Airness wore the shoes anyways and so began the Nike and the Jordan brand dynasty.  An original release of the Air Jordan I’s can be very hard to come by. Oftentimes a pair of these Jordan’s will run well into the hundreds of dollars and approach the $1k mark on auction sites.

Since that epic original release there has been a new version of Air Jordans released every year up to now.  Along the way there have been many variations of the original Jordans released with many different colors and designs as well.  The Jordan line of shoes is very easily the most sought after and popular sneaker available with many collectors going to great pains to find every Jordan shoe available and to keep them in immaculate condition.

The Jumpman Logo

One of the better known logos in shoe fashion, the Michael Jordan ‘Jumpan’ logo is actually a silhouette of Jordan doing a ballet move.  Clearly the intent was to pattern Jordan in flight for a massive dunk but they had to start somewhere.

This Jumpman logo has always been on Air Jordan shoes since their inception.  There have been many lines of products released around the Jordan brand besides shoes.  You can find sweatshirts, sweatpants, Jordan cologne, Jordan polo shirts, just about anything you can think up Nike has stamped a Jumpman logo on and branded.  Fans of the logo don’t seem to mind as everything Jordan related seems to sell.

Of course the most popular Jumpman products have been the basketball shoes and there seems to be no end in site for the line of Air Jordans.  Since 1985 ‘Jordan’ and shoes go hand in hand and the Jordan brand keeps pumping out new shoes every year.
